The following nine questions will be asked of you when you review your housing. You will be asked to grade each criteria based on an A to F scale (A is Excellent, F is Failure). You can draw comparisons to other housing options of which you are familiar (such as your friend's housing). 1. How do you grade your housing overall? This should be an overall evaluation of everything related to your housing. 2. How do you grade the safety? You should consider all the specific aspects of the facility as well as crime in general for the particular neighborhood which you live. Consider: Lighting, Locks, Security Guards, and Access to Non-Residents. 3. How do you grade the parking? Is there adequate on-street or off-street parking nearby. 4. How do you grade the structure? Is the building in new condition or is it falling down in disrepair? 5. How do you grade the overall appearance? Things to consider: Is the property well kept, maintained, and landscaped. Are common areas vacuumed, painted, and clean. 6. How do you grade the interior? This relates to the interior of your housing (Apartment, House, or Dorm room). Is it clean and painted? Are their functioning appliances? If carpeted, is it dirty and worn out? 7. How do you grade the noise level? Consider such things as neighbors, parties, and vehicle traffic. Is the facility conducive to sleep and studying? 8. How do you grade the maintenance? If repairs are required, are they made efficiently and correctly? 9. How do you grade the overall value? Based upon other housing options, evaluate the price paid versus the quality
of the housing.
